This is Cayo. He’s a wonderful, smart, affectionate, middle aged dog. I believe he is part American Eskimo and part mini Aussie. He’s 14lb of pure love. and about 5 – 7 years of age.
Some things about Cayo: He loves to be where the people are. He’s snuggly and gentle. He is fantastic with cats and small dogs. He is good with large dogs if they’re calm, but will tell them to back off if they’re too excited. He’s not great with large breed puppies. He has done group hikes with dogs of all ages and sizes for years, and does great in a pack. He’s cautious of kids, but is gentle with them. He’d be happier in an adult only home.
Cayo is smart. He’s like a border collie in a 14lb body. He needs jobs and challenges in his life. He is not spry enough for agility competitions but loves to do agility type games and he thrives on the communication and teamwork. He’s super sensitive and responsive and learns very quickly. He’d be a dream dog for someone who wants a working dog in a small package minus the intensity. With a decent walk and a bit of challenge each day he’s content to snooze and cuddle the rest of the time. He does have some separation anxiety which disappears with a stable routine,. He’s crate trained and has impeccable house manners. He knows all the basic commands, can follow some neat cues and signals when he’s off leash, and has really great recall.
Because of his separation anxiety he would do best in a home with someone who is home most of the time and he doesn’t need to be left ..
