Mickey came to us in April 30/11
Update: Mickey finally made it out of the vet hospital last night. Poor guy spent the whole week hooked up to IV fluids to try and flush his system out. He did have surgery and they found black stones in his bladder. We will have them analyzed to see what they are made of and adjust his diet accordingly. He’ll have his urine tested in a couple of weeks and hopefully that will be the end of his bladder stone problems. He will have to stay on a special diet to ensure this doesn’t happen again and it would be a good idea for his urine to be tested from time to time to make sure all is good.
April 26/11 Update: Mickey’s adoption has been delayed because he hasn’t been feeling well. Last night he was taken to the emergency vet clinic where we found that he had stones blocking his bladder from emptying. He spent the night at the vet clinic and this morning was transferred to our vet clinic where he is receiving IV fluids to continue flushing his system out.
Mickey is a 4 (almost 5) year old neutered male Maltese Shih Tzu mix. He is a lovely little thing, good with people, kids, dogs and cats. He can be a bit timid at times but warms up quickly. Mickey will make a super companion for another small friendly dog. He does need to be kept on a good quality diet due to some mild allergies.
Due to Mickey’s ongoing health issues and ongoing stones we have placed him into a long term foster home .. We never thought he would survive so long and do so well but today he is still loving his life with his foster parents !!
